Pet-Friendly Yokohama Apartment for Couple

A big congratulations to H-san and L-san, a couple from the United States who acquired a new puppy from a shelter and needed a pet-friendly apartment to move into.

This couple chose a 2DK apartment with 36 square meters of space at about a 16-minute walk from the station.

Having chosen an apartment in Kanagawa Ward of Yokohama, both H-san and L-san can reach their teaching jobs in western Kanagawa and Tokyo.

Monthly costs for their apartment are as follows:

Rent: ¥65,000
CAM fee: ¥0
Bilingual 24/7 concierge support & service: ¥6,500
Total Monthly Cost: ¥71,500

Initial one-time fees included:

Renter's insurance (2-year coverage): ¥15,500
Key money (1 to 2 month's rent): ¥0
Security deposit (1 to 2 month's rent): ¥65,000
Guarantor company fee (30% to 100% of 1 month's rent): ¥0
Agency fee (including tax): ¥70,200
Pet fee (1 to 2 month's rent): ¥65,000

Overall move-in cost including first month's rent and rent for November came to a total of ¥284,582. Since there was no key money, and the apartment was sublet to them by Rent Life, we were also able to eliminate the guarantor company fee. H-san and L-san saved themselves ¥130,000!

Since their new home was a standard residential apartment, they needed to acquire a number of items with the exception of one air conditioner for cooling and heating.

They purchased a city gas (toshi gas) stovetop with two burners and a fish grill for the kitchen, and ceiling lights, curtains, and furniture for the other rooms.

As for their refrigerator, washing machine, and microwave oven, H-san and L-san decided to rent their furnishings from a company that offered all three furnishings for ¥3,600 a month with a 1-year contract. The rental furnishings company requires a personal guarantor, so H-san and L-san used HMK Tenant Support Services & Concierge. The personal guarantor fee cost ¥25,000.

We hope that H-san and L-san will enjoy their new home and make many wonderful new memories with their puppy!
